Students for Refugees collected personal and home products for the LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR drive through Hearts and Homes for Refugees.
The drive was a huge success and our efforts made a huge difference in the lives of many people. A number of bags of mixed products were provided to newly arriving families on move-in day to their new apartments. Because the drive was so successful - we ran out of storage space. Happily, the Upper Westchester Muslim Society in Pleasantville offered us their facility for storage and a portion of the donations were offered to families who came to the society’s food distribution. We expect to resettle many more families in coming months, and these personal/household items make a tremendous difference in the volunteers’ ability to clean and set up apartments as quickly as is needed.
The photos shown give an idea of volume but they do not do justice to the amount that was collected. Please note that for privacy/security reasons, we are not able to provide photos of the families receiving the donations.
